Two Rivers Police Officer Receives Conservation Valor Award
A Two Rivers Police Officer has been honored with a Wisconsin Conservation Valor Award.
Officer Alek Hensler was recognized for the award during Monday’s Two Rivers City Council meeting.
Police Chief Ben Meinnert explained that in 2022, when Hensler was a Wisconsin Conservation Warden in Forest County, he stopped a UTV for a violation.
The person violently attacked Hensler, to which he had to defend himself.
He shot the offender but then rendered aid to save his attacker.
The award was given by Wisconsin Chief Conservation Warden Casey Krueger and Governor Tony Evers.
The award says Alek “is awarded this certificate in recognition of his extraordinary heroism while being fully aware of imminent threat to his personal safety.”
Henseler worked in a non-active position with Two Rivers Police while the incident went through the court system.
